I didn't see this one coming...

Of all the results which I predicted for the weekend, I definitely did not see this one happening.
 Newcastle 6 Aston Villa 0.

Newcastle who looked very much a championship side last weekend when they lost to Manchester United last weekend, decided to make their mark in this season's premiership in this home trashing of Aston Villa. Andy Carroll, who perhaps was their best player last weekend, opened his Premier goal tally with a hat-trick. If I were Fabio Capello, I would definitely be taking a hard look at Carroll's performance over the next couple of weeks. He has shown great promise for Stuart Pearce's U21 side and maybe he could be in line a senior call-up pretty soon.

A brace by Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton's goal completed the goalscorers and if could have been more but for the goalkeeping brilliance of Brad Friedel. Villa were woeful and I don't think they even had a shot on target in normal play. They did have a penalty which was missed by John Carew. In fact, the penalty was also not a shot on target because it was blasted way above the bar.

Kevin MacDonald have had a good run but with his squad of talented players, getting thrashed like this will not do any good to his or his players morale.
